Helping business leaders run further and faster.
“…like having a GM in your pocket”
Business coaching
I have been helping businesses build muscle across their commercial activities by developing and implementing pricing policies, forecasting tools, market growth strategies, and business planning.
Consulting
A focus on embedding solutions that drive business performance and support teams. Recent consulting gigs have spanned new ways of working, rem. strategy and implementation, and experience design.
Business sitting
The idea behind business sitting is to provide business owners or leaders the chance to take a break, to hand over the reins (in full or part), to someone who has experience with managing teams, projects, and businesses.
Governance & advisory
I am currently a director on one board and an advisor to another. I enjoy governance and the art of producing the right balance of focus on risk management, strategic planning, and supporting the leadership team.
I’m Donna Maxwell, the Director of Running Mate.
Can I help?
This is the first question I ask before taking on a new project or role - it’s really my only criteria.
It’s important to know that I don’t use a specific methodology for projects, nor do I enter a business with a template to implement. Instead, I work with leaders to help identify what’s needed, from risk mitigation strategies to leadership development and galvanising a team to deliver on goals.
The clients I work with are open to change, growth, and real partnership.
Helping business leaders is one of my favourite things to do.
“Donna has the unique ability to enter your business and almost immediately start providing tangible help. Yes, real actual help at a senior level.
She hits the ground running and brings an objective perspective that is often missing from your business, this combined with her good judgement is her superpower.”

Hate something, change something, make something better.
“Can hate be good, can hate be great, can hate be something we don't hate?”
While working with clients, I’ve encountered workplace scenarios that have resulted in stress, culture clashes, and yes – hate.
I’ve also sat within teams and businesses that have had the objectivity and courage to turn something they hate into something great.
Read on to find out how hate can be used as a tool for organisational change.
